So to change the subject then -Whats the latest on the move?
Will it be before after no. 3

Weeeeelll. We're definitely going to move. It'll definitely be outside of the M25, but whether that's Guildford or Edinburgh or anywhere in between is still wide open. We're doing a day trip down to our first destination - Guildford - on Saturday and ne to South Manchester next month. No. 3 will happen when it happens I think. Whatever happens we'll buy a house big enough for more kids.

Freecycle will come in handy then!

It rains more oop norf Six. I noticed it when we moved and we only got half way up the country. No hose pipe bans though!

Mags, I only signed up to Freecycle about 3 weeks ago. Finally got round to it, it is absolutely superb isn't it. People give away the most amazing stuff. To be honest we've only got rid so far. Despite having 5 bedrooms and plenty of loft space, we have somehow managed to completely ram it full of stuff, so they will be coming in very handy over the next few months.

Unfortunately the 5 bedrooms house means I'm not very. We're going to downsize though when we move. Absolutely no point in having five bedrooms we've come to realise.

Just 2 days ago I tried out this Free cycle thing, it must have been mentioned again somewhere on the blogs. I had to join the whole of London one as my borough or nearby is not covered. Now whether this means I am a member of every borough group I do not know but the volume of emails is way too much, must be nearly one hundred a day.
Is there a way of knowing if they are responding to your offer?
The easiest way is to try I suppose but so far it sees a bit daunting

Alright then, what's Freecycle?

Lodgers is the answer to your bedroom surfeit! Fill em with illegal immigrants and language students. They can do shifts...one lot sleep by day. the others by night!

Yep we've got one of them.

Six, my younger daughter shares a flat in Guildford, it's a lovely town, but the house prices are quite steep

woah, you're moving?? Edinburgh!!! It's lovely but not as cool or hip as Glasgow

Lucy, I should imagine that being part of the whole of London freecycle would not make you a member of the all the seperate area groups.

I agree that some lists are extremely busy and the volume of email is soul destroying. However, do what I do, hit the delete button if there are just too many.

I use it more for getting rid rather than picking up stuff.

If you have made an offer then people will email you and then you have to chose who gets your booty. This can be hard sometimes but having been around for a while I can spot an ebay trader a mile off. You sort of get a 6th sense from the emails. If you want to attempt to pick up on an offer made by someone else, email them bdq.

If the whole of London one is too much for you Lucy, then join the area group that is closest to you. the boundaries don't tend to be rigid. For example if I have something that nobody on my local group wants, I offer it on the Birmingham group. There's always someone on there that wants it!

Mr Mags calls it my scavenger mailgroup. I think it's an absolutely wonderful way of disposing of things you no longer want or need or picking up stuff that you hadn't realised you needed! Seriously though, a young woman I know through freecycle has furnished her whole house through it and that's good because she doesn't have two halfpennies to rub together.

Six, if you're moving a long way then freecyclers in your neck of the woods will be on the receiving end of a bounty I should imagine. Brilliant!
