Apparently Afghanistan is turning out to be a little more tricky than they first thought. A little look a t a couple of history books may have helped them realise that.
Doesn't matter how sophisticated your weaponry becomes, operating in a country that essentially lives with a stone age infrastructure is not going to be a quick jaunt.

We have four clients (all ex-SAS) who are security advisors and the general feeling was that Afghanistan was a complete no-brainer.
Just as the Soviets found out in 1979 anybody not trained correctly or supported correctly will be a sitting duck.
