Will it ever be broken?

It's 50 years to the day since Jim Laker took 19 wickets for England v Australia in the fourth ashes test.

Hats off to Mr. Laker, you may stand immortal forever.

I doubt it stronggly. The only player I can see doing it at the mment would be Murali - the rest of the Sri Lankan attack being relatively weaker to him than Australia's is to Warne. A Turning wicket at Kandy, weakish opposition - but not too weak as they'd be likely to get out to someone else - perhaps New Zealand.

But then I really thought he was going to take 10 in the last innings against England and excellent fielding intervened.

Hats off to the old boy though - an outstanding achievement that stands head and shoulders above the rest. I might even stick him in my all time great 11 to bowl at the other end to Barnes.

Not bad, not bad. However two things are prying on my little mind at the moment:
i) when is this weather going to break. I know its a very british thing to do - moan when its cold and then complain whens its hot. But, I do'nt do hot weather and work very well.
Since i moved down south (nearly 4 years ago now), i've never seen any good old fashioned english drizzle, where have the wet grey days gone. You know the ones, its the middle of summer, its too warm for a coat, but its raining enough to get soaked. Trouble is nice though it is having 30 deg days the plants are suffering.
Every day on my way to work i notice another tree which is showing real signs of stress brought about by the drought. These are big old trees too which have deep roots.
Come on and join me in a little rain dance.
Secondly, i read this artcle on the greenpeace web site that angered me a bit:

http://weblog.greenpeace.org/oceandefenders/archive/2006/05/taking_the_squid_out_of_sperm.html#more

When i think of over fishing, i think of big food chains employing teams of people who scour the worldwide markets for cheraper and cheaper fish supplies. Over fishing in my mind is purely driven by profit. And it makes my blood boil.
You may not know this but i'm a bit of envirmentalist at heart with a keen interest in oceans and wehales. i just need to get my lazy ass into action one day(just subscribing to a couple of charities don't cut it). I'd love to be a greenpeace activists.
Those bloody anarchist!!

So thats me, carolyn is well and we are looking forward to bump arriving.
