Meanwhile in South Africa 2

With reference to my 'not everyone loves an underdog' post. This is the kind of thing I like.

Sangakkara and Jayawardene came together with Sri Lanka at 14 for 2 and chasing a meagre 169. So far they have put on 471 runs unbroken for the 3rd wicket, beating the previous World Record of 467.

To put the cherry on the top the record breaking runs came off a dropped catch.

Good on yer boys.

I am unutterably pleased about this. Highest number of runs scored in a day without the loss of a wicket too.

Sanga is a prince - takes no quarter but plays with a smile on his face.

Jayawardene will go on to be the best captain / batsman in the world. Even better than Ponting. Hopefully they'll both make 300 tomorrow and pass the all time world best stand (which lest we forget is another Sri Lanka record) - but go on to win the match this time.

714 for 3...is that good? ;-)

Your wish come true David...or at least one of them!
