I've been really ill

Well not really ill, nothing lasting. I've had a bacterial infection of my tonsils and a really high fever and flu since Saturday.

It's a funny thing illness though, it takes you so much by surprise. I've had flu like it before but you forget how completely incapacitating it is. I was in bed for 4 days straight without really getting up and I've got up this morning to catch up on a few work things and I'm now completely exhausted.

Things aren't really helped by the fact that it's 30 degrees in the house and my sister in law came down on Saturday with her two kids, meaning four under 2 1/2 year olds running around or lying screaming. Mind you I don't think my wallowing around upstairs has engendered an awful lot of sympathy, they're on the brink of chaos on a permanent basis from what I can work out.

On the plus side I have listened or watched every single game of the World Cup so far, kinda. Some are a bit of a hazy blur. We won 5-0 against Paraguay right? Owen got a hattrick yeah. And I've lost over a stone in weight hoorah.

Glad to here you're back in the land of the living.

A suggestion for you this weekend - if you can be bothered:

Part of it is a big event in Trafalgar square, including an elephant.

Glad you're feeling better Six. Did you have to call the Doctor out ? Are you sure it wasn't just a ruse to watch the footie ? !

Hey Curmy, no I finally dragged my arse out of bed and down to the doctor's yesterday morning when I realised that I wasn't going to just get better with paracetamol.

Rather alarmingly when the doctor looked at my throat he said 'yeeeuch' and recoiled. Now working on the basis that doctors see some pretty nasty stuff, I took it to mean that maybe I should have got down to see him a bit earlier.

That was silly of you, Six, though typical bloke, you should have gone on Monday.
Still he didn't think you were wasting his time.
I expect you're on antibiotics so should be on the mend.
Unless England's performance causes a relapse !

lol - mentioned the festical thingy to Sarah(desade) and she might go up as well. Odd thought that we might all be in the same place without recognising each other.

Sorry to see that you've been unwell Six...its bad enough being out of it and drifting in and out of consciousness but in this heat!

Good to see you feeling a lot better but don't rush things, get yourself totally well...

Unfortunately, when one of us disappears for a few days you don't know if its for good or bad reasons...

Take Care

Did you recognise anyone David?

I hope you're well enough to enjoy the England v Sweden match. Of course, those on the field could conspire to put us all on the sick for a while! The day of England v T&T my wife doled out 600 items in the Chemist's shop that she runs. The following day it was 1200!

These viruses are no fun, are they? They come along so quickly it's not true and it can take quite a while to get over them.

Only members of my own family and people wwho kept coming up to me and asking if I was one related to . . . . and I always was. I'm removed from it all but my family are apparently well known to some Sri Lankans.

Were you there ?

We can dream it is though, eh Gavin ;) ( Hello btw!)

I would have loved to have been there David but we had a pre arranged BBQ. As it happened the weather changed to cooler on Sunday, so I'm guessing it was a good day for you all.

Thats how it is with pre schoolers (never again she vows silently)
My mother in law, on the one occassion she ventured near enough to 'help', helpfully suggested that cultures where the man has more than one wife had probably got it right. My polite(ish) reply that in my culture it is the family that help did not earn me any brownie points, Tact never was my strong point.

No it's not me Gavin. I've already said that. It's Sasha, he looks cooler than me.

Gavin Corder said...

Well who is Sasha then?

Crispin Heath said...

He's a DJ. A very good one. A hero of mine in fact.
