Parenting by numbers

This morning I finally understood why it's important for a 2 year old to have a routine. It's nothing to do with them. It's for when you've drunk gallons of beer the night before and you have to get up and deal with them at 6.45 in the morning.

Pick him up 2 3

Let him turn the light on 2 3

Take him downstairs, sit on the counter 2 3

Milk out, in cup 2 3

'Daddy clear the dishwasher'

'Thank you son, I forgot that'

Empty dishwasher 2 3

'Daddy make tea'

'Ah yes, thank you Ebs'

You get the picture. Thank God for routine. He'd never have been dressed, or fed if he hadn't reminded me at every step. God I'm hung over.

Ah,the demon drink has got you has it Six?...hehehe..I'm not sympathetic at all...too much experience!!!!

Isn't the "turning the light on 2 3 " a funny business...their first personal experience of modern technology!

Yes,I'm back from Ecuadorbut tried to answer by clicking on your name on Les pual's blog (where you'd replied) and it led off to nowhere...try it.

Off to Cyprus on Sunday so Gavin will be getting a new flag up!..me too, which is far more important...of course I shall pretend to be a visitor!

Well Six, don't expect any sympathy from me either because I've been there and got the t-shirt.

I have to say that 6.45 is an incredibly late start and you should consider yourself very lucky. Both my son and my daughter have always been early risers and still are. These days it's 6am but it's not so bad because they're old enough to fend for themselves now but a few years ago, me and Mr Mags used to take it turns to get up at 5am.

Whenever I feel broody I just remind myself of those early starts. Works every time!

I have to say Mags I take my hat off to you then. We've just managed to lengthen Eben's sleep to around 6.30 to 6.45 from 5.30. Frankly 5.30 was killing us or me more specifically as my wife's pregnant and she really needs the sleep at the mo, so I was getting up with him every day.

Been there done that! Now we're at the can't-get-them-out-of-bed-for-school stage which is a major improvement!

Yes I looked at the profile and went to the blog which wasn't there! Six did you have an abortive attempt at another blog?

I was wondering that. I think i might have posted to David's blog and set up a username that I subsequently forgot. What's weird is that I must have automatically signed in using the other sign in details when I posted to Shy's blog. Dunno it's all a bit of a mystery.

Cheers Isobel Mags xxx

Problem sorted. Broodiness? What broodiness?

Six, second pregnancies and subsequent are a real bitch because at least during the first one you didn't have to run around after a child, unless yer man counts as a child! So my empathy to Mrs Six and well done to you for giving her the rest she needs.

I hope all goes well with the new sproglet. They say they're all different (not that i believe that), so maybe this one will be in favour of long lay ins!

Kayfer, if ever you feel broody I loan mine out for weekends. Certain guarantee to end all broodiness, better than sterilisation! Just let me know and I'll pop them in the post.
