Never trust your family

A short story as to why you should never trust what your family does.

When my wife was a child, she was helping her mother cook the Sunday lunch, a baked ham. Before her mother put the ham in the oven, she cut the end off, something she always did religiously. Innocently the my wife asked ‘Mum why do you always cut the end off?’ to which she replied ‘I don’t know. Your nana always did it. I’ll have to ask her’.

Next time they saw Nana, they asked her why she cut the end of the ham, to which the old lady replied, ‘I don’t know, mam used to do it’. Unfortunately she’d died some years previously, however her sister survived, someone they saw once a year. Duly, at their annual meeting, they asked the family matriarch ‘Do you know why, mam/nana/grandnana cut the end of the ham off?’

‘Well dear’ came the reply ‘she only had a small pan and the ham never fitted’.

So there you go. Moral of the story - don’t believe your family, or your children will go hungry.

Hi Six (not high five!) have you posted this before? Or was that on the MB: I've definitely read it from you but can't quite remember where....however, it is often the case that our elders know better - but of course it isn't always the case!

Yes I have posted it before, but on the boards. In it's capacity as a record of my brain I thought I'd popst it for future refereence. It makes me giggle when I think about it.

Its an oldie but a good 'un and therefore worth repeating and I'm sure many new readers will appreciate it.

Six I seem to have messed up my blog. I tried to add the code for putting links to all my fellow bloggers and it did not show on the blog and when removed my blog enteries are further down the page and the titles of previous entries that were at the left hand side are now at the top of the page...

Any ideas for a fix? I know you were going to help earlier as you said on the messageboards.

I thought that I read somewhere that saving a new template can fix problems...What do you think?

See, I did not realise either that some templates have the capacity for links already within them...

Cheers!

Every Sunday my mum roasted meat and served all the trimmings.

As she served up whatever meat we were having, she'd pick at the skin/crackling, and when we tried to beg a bit, she'd simply say that when we were mummy's or daddy's, we'd also have that privelage.

She was right, though in these health conscious times, it is only the males in my life that are fool hardy enough to wolf the best bit!!
